Colorado Legislature passes 2 bills to help homeowners avoid foreclosure

Two bills aimed at protecting homeowners from losing their homes to foreclosure passed out of the Colorado General Assembly Monday.

The Colorado Senate passed HB-1295 — sponsored by state Rep. Beth McCann, D-Denver, and Sen. Jessie Ulibarri, D-Commerce City — which prohibits “dual tracking,” in which a lender negotiates with a borrower while simultaneously pursuing foreclosure.
